Bikeography - is a new and on-going series of images exploring light and London’s incredible architecture with my iPhone 6 whilst out riding my bike. This series will continue to grow as I shoot throughout the longer summer days.
Shot exclusively on iPhone 6, all of these photo’s were taken around sunrise or sunset. For me, this is the time of day that light has the ability to magically transform the appearance of anything. As the minutes pass, a new spell of light and shadow is cast, revealing details in seemingly familiar objects or spaces that were never there before...and may never be there again.
Its this ever changing quality of light that attracts me, moves me and even compels me to want more. Yes, I am greedy. Light shifts like the desert sands and with it, the landscape too. That’s why I photograph the same building or landmark in this series of images repeatedly.
One day I may think that the light is beautiful and the image perfect, But who am I? I am not light. I am simply an explorer of light. So I return again and again to see what light can do. For this, I need my bike. With it, I have the freedom to move between the narrow streets of London or across distant locations in a short space of time. I chase light, see her in places and spaces where others around me can’t. I can feel her touch on London’s beautiful architecture and when she appears, I click. When she doesn't, I simply ride around and wait for her to show.
Editing of all images has been kept to a minimum and done on iPhone 6 using the Photoshop app. This project has nothing to do with the image quality of the iPhone, this is just a convenient tool, along with my bike. The images are simply about light. How she momentarily shapes and transforms the appearance of London's beautiful architecture and landscape, then moves on.
